My volunteer experiences have spanned several different contexts and organizations over my adult life: from the peer mentoring program with the London Brain Injury Association to co-leading the support group for The Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario, to sitting on my condo board when I lived in London, participating in the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario Elgin and St. Thomas chapter (before it closed), or helping out at whatever church I am attending.

Locally, I have been involved wherever possible with the local Elgin-Middlesex-London associations for the Green Party of Ontario and Canada. In September 2021, my Green Party Canada involvement took the form of running as the local candidate in the Federal Election.  It was my pleasure to hear from voices across the riding and to represent Green options in several conversations and debates.  In May 2022 and then again in February 2025, I was also pleased to represent Green Party Ontario alongside Mike Schreiner.

For the Federal Election in April 2025, I chose to forego running and instead educate the public about the importance of participating in these democratic processes. For more on that decision, visit my Blog here.

These experiences have reaffirmed the importance of ongoing public engagement and the significance of cooperation and respectful discourse. While I may have personal affiliations and belief systems, I have also become increasingly aware of the need for empathy and the ability to work together to better our space and experiences.

Most recently, I’ve been speaking out and advocating with Active Transportation Elgin, promoting the need for improved design of our community spaces to be inclusive and safe for all.

Fostering a cooperative and respectful society is the responsibility of every community member. I hope you will join me.
